Corruption free country ???

Corruption is a word that springs from latin word “corruptuswhich means to abuse or destroy and in literal sense it means utterly broken. Well ,though the word has its roots in a non –Indian language , it is we Indians who understand the meaning of the word in far more better sense. We talk about eradicating corruption from this country ,why ? ‘Coz we know the roots of this tree has a very tight hold on our country’s soil. And we know the only solution to free our country is to uproot this demonic tree ! But the question is will we be truly be able to uproot it ?

My understanding says ,our fight for Janlokpal bill is quiet righteous, in the sense that the bill promises justice that ought to be given by the public .Here after reading the difference between Lokpal and Janalokpal ,I give my vote to Janalokpal. But then again the question remains , how do we know that this bill won’t be exploited by these politicians and bureaucrats ?

You say ,fight corruption .But I ask, DEFINE CORRUPTION. Tell me about its emergence and all possible solutions . Does that sound lame. Yeah ,maybe it is ! But then again, we do need to find out really from where does this kida of corruption spring from . Is it present only in politics and our political system or does it exists even in our daily lives.

Look…

Look at yourself closely and tell me,have you ever bribed anyone ? Have you ? Have ever asked anyone “you give me this and I will do this for you “ ? Have you ?

You say NO ????

I say YES !!! Yes ,you have done that and you are corrupt, as corrupt as any politician . They play money game and you play mind game.

HOW ???

Oh , well …Was it not you who went to the temple and asked lord to give you a promotion or a distinction or a maruti car and you’d pay him back in the form of gold or pedas or nariyals ? Was it not you ??? Was it not you who asked your father to give you a bike or a watch or a cellphone if you get so and so percent in your boards ? Was it not you ??? Was it not you who asked the monitor of your class to erase your name from the black list and then you promised him a Cadbury silk ? Was it not you ??? Was it not you who did not do your homework on time and asked your friend , who was the monitor for the subject to pardon you this time and the next time and the next to the next time ? Was it not you ??

You are there every where the word corruption fits in . Are you not ?? Of course you are !!!

So what happens after Janalokpal bill is implemented ??? India is corruption free country ?!? We celebrate yet another day and enjoy yet another national holiday in the name of “Corruption free India “ ?

No , we won’t ! We can never be corruption free unless we annihilate the corruption from our minds !! If we should uproot this demonic tree then it should start from Within !!!

  1. Hey sid, nice insight about corruption. But i don't really agree when you call "Promising God something in return" is included in corruption. What we do here is a "prayer"; a strong prayer; a strong will or something that we want. And the things that we promise in return are a gift or a token of love for listening to us and doing something for us!" There's huge difference between a prayer (although it contains only what we want) and a corrupt mindset. We ask something from God and we promise something in return; whereas politicians ask everything from us and promise nothing in return!! That was the first difference. Next, a prayer is divine; we do it for a good cause; whereas politicians have never done anything for a good cause!
However, I do agree with "asking your monitor to erase your name or asking him to pardon you" is a type of corruption.
I also agree with your thoughts that no country can be entirely corruption free unless we annihilate corruption from within!
I also would like to state that we can only avoid or lessen corruption; we cannot completely uproot it; each system has flaws, no system is perfect and will never be! It is we, who must concentrate more on the advantages and let go the flaws or try to correct them as much as possible.
Fire can be used to cook food as well as burn houses! It is upon us, what to use it for! The fire is just a system; it knows nothing; it can do nothing on its own; we must trigger it and use it in our way! Similar is the case with our government!
Anyways, I think I must stop now.. But i really loved your blog and would like to write more and more :P :P
    Keep writing Sid...... :)

  4. About animal sacrifice.. I completely agree with you. Period. About the prayers; I still believe its not a bribe when done with good thoughts and for a positive reason.. example if someone in your family is not well; you pray for his well being and then promise to offer coconuts or some other gift! THAT is NOT corruption! Except this; i completely agree with all the thoughts that you stated!! :) :) Good work

  5. Corruption first needs to end from within ourselves. Completely agree with that point of yours. Today if corruption exists - we (the so called protesters) have encouraged it ourselves at many levels. So without looking at our past deeds (bribes to be precise) we have no right to protest against corruption at bigger levels. Moving on to the Anna Hazare phenomenon. Mass rallies, 'end corruption' slogans, fast along with Anna...the list is endless. But how many of these supporters actually know anything about the Jan Lokpal Bill? Or for that matter what corruption are they looking to eradicate? I saw a few teenagers joining a rally midway the other day. Laughing , cheering on as if India's world cup victory was being relived. And then of course, the FB status updates. But how many of them are serious about it? It has sadly become more of a trend than a public outburst of frustration. One of the reasons why I absolutely have no interest in how many gathered to fast/shout/dance. Lastly, the highly biased coverage given to the issue by our great Indian media is baffling. A recent broadcast monitoring and analysis agency found out that the tone of coverage included around 5592 positive clips as against 65 negative ones. Clearly, the media showed what would garner more ratings. If the media was really in favour of public interest it would have shown both sides of the argument for them to form an independent opinion. Sadly, that's not the case. For another example on the same, anyone who is further interested can read this link: http://www.timesofassam.com/headlines/akhil-gogoi-and-anna-hazare-will-you-dare-to-fast-with-irom-sharmila/
