Twin souls
intertwined together but tangled due to office politics.
The recently
released film "Inkaar" that dealt with office politics and sexual harassment at
workplace was not exactly what it was portrayed. Office politics, yes, sexual
harassment, yes. both these elements were present but the suspense and its
direction took the limelight. Arjun's character as Rahul Verma comes out as
an overtly mature guy from the ad world who knows not just the people around
him but trusts his instincts way too much when he recruits Maya played Chitrangada.
A carefree yet career oriented ambitious Maya finds not just solace but all
the guidance to reach the top post as Rahul takes her under his wings. The
conflict between the two arises due to the feelings they develop for each other
but none ready to confess. The conflict separates them and takes Maya to a
different height. She leaves the city in pursuit of her dreams.
After 7 long years
she returns to Mumbai only to find her being made the national creative head
of the ad firm she works for. Lots of confusion and heated arguments follow
which reflect on the remnants of Maya-Rahul relationship. Drama and suspense
is created on appointment of Maya as a National Creative head. A feeling of
having “closely” associated with the company’s senior to have earned this
post becomes prominent as this point of time.
A continuous back
and forth in time through a storytelling session makes not just the story
interesting but adds suspense to it which keeps the viewer on the edge of
their seat. Maya misunderstanding love of Rahul as an ailing ego turns a paw
on him and files a sexual harassment case against him. However, when the
decision goes against Maya has the troubled soul take a wrong move.
The story takes an interesting
twist as Maya reveals her feelings to Rahul. It was never for the lust for
post of CEO rather the love for Rahul that brought her back to the city of
dreams. But does she realize her dream or chooses power over love, the
mystery continues till the very end. However, the ethically correct Rahul leaving
the town with his ill aged father and Maya running away from the firm
thereafter, was something that makes the end cliff hanger.
The music of the
film is not very peppy but has a soul to it.
Overall the film is
worth a watch and an entertainer.
